Points and Objectives This exploration is planned for deciding how ANZ Banking gathering, in Australia, have conflicted with all chances to guarantee that they are ready to go and working at a significant level than the greater part of its rivals. Considering the administration of the organization which is vital to the general execution. The association targets supporting the skilled people and makes a setting where these individuals can include their insight into adding to the association's general objective of accomplishing its goal of being the main, regarded and quickest developing bank. The association realizes that for it to accomplish its motivation, it enlists the best ability out there as well as have put intensely in preparing its pioneers. Through viable administration at the bank offices, holes have been distinguished in tasks of the business just as the inspiration of workers to perform better. For example, bank operational practices and execution is being estimated against a lot of benchmarks empowering the representatives to distinguish on their own their individual weaknesses. This is rather than the administration of the organization going legitimately to enlighten workers regarding their shortcomings which may demotivate the representatives. The administration has additionally been prepared on fitting projects that are special to specific branches which go far at fortifying center authority esteems. ANZ bunch have prepared their pioneers to urge workers to be increasingly inventive and connect with their partners in talking about imaginative thoughts and introducing them to the administrations of the banks. For example, in certain states, any individual indicted for genuine wrongdoing like homicide or assault isn't considered for parole. Since parole is allowed under exacting terms and conditions, the scarcest infringement bring about its disavowal and resulting re-imprisonment. The exposition examines the general history and reason for the parole framework in the United States. The negative just as beneficial outcomes of this framework on the general public are likewise examined. Besides, the different elements of nearby, state and government parole offices are featured. The government parole framework is underscored in this paper. In spite of the fact that law authorization organizations make a solid effort to keep lawbreakers off the boulevards, while the jails house them, it is the duty of the parole offices to guarantee that the wrongdoers avoid inconvenience and get the assist they with requiring b y giving network assets to help them socially reintegrate into the general public subsequent to being discharged. As a rule, the parolee is under ordinary watch is still under the underlying sentence. The different states have resolutions which make parole sheets with the obligation of assessing and if fundamental, discharging the detainees from prison. These sheets lead parole hearings just as the hearings for the repudiation of paroles. A few states don't permit the people on parole to be spoken to during such hearings. In the United States, the parole framework was first formally settled and utilized in New York in 1876. By the turn of the twentieth century, numerous state s had embraced the parole framework. It was in 1910 that the U.S. Congress set up the Parole Commission accused of the obligation of conceding parole (Rush, 2003). There are various reasons why parole is utilized in the United States. In correlation, it is a lot less expensive to direct an individual on parole than to detain a convict. While an individual is on parole, the person has a chance to offer administrations to the network and consequently add to the general turn of events. Then again, the general public is guaranteed of security in light of the fact that the parolee is under customary watch to forestall backslide into wrongdoing. Wrongdoing is limited because of the way that an individual on parole might be re-detained if there should be an occurrence of the scarcest infringement of terms and conditions (Hoffman, 2004). It has been built up that parole fills in as one of the exceptionally powerful methods of restoring convicts. Parolees are continually regulated and guided as they straighten out into the general public. Parole likewise helps in controlling the number of inhabitants in nearby, state and government detainment facilities. For the most part, parole is allowed after gathering the set measures of good conduct while in jail. As much as parole laws vary starting with one state then onto the next, there are various practices that are shared among the states (Jacobson, 2005). In many states, the representative has the obligation of designating a parole board. The board is accused of the obligations of exploring the case chronicles of detainees qualified for parole, investigate the records, lead parole hearings, and award parole to fruitful competitors and to plan the conditions for parole. In addition, they can give warrants of captures for people who may damage parole conditions, lead parole repudiation hearings just as give the last release to people on parole after a predefined timeframe (Hoffman, 2004). A few states necessitate that the pa rolees pay a little charge each month which will be utilized to repay the expenses of standard oversight by chose officials from the parole commission. For example, a few states energize to $10 month to month and a limit of $2,500 yearly for convicts on parole for a crime (Jacobson, 2005). The eventual benefits of the influenced society are viewed as when allowing parole. States which practice the parole framework underscore the way that parole isn't planned for lessening the sentences or conceding pardon/absolution to guilty parties (Del Carmen, 2006). It ought to likewise not be mistaken for probation which is normally given rather than detainment. So as to manage the giving of parole, most states checks the locale of the parole board. The resolutions in these states are structured so that there is a particular time of detainment that an individual must finish before being considered for parole (Schmalleger, 2005). The base timeframe is determined as a small amount of the all out sentence granted in the court administering which to a great extent rely upon the idea of wrongdoing submitted. In Arkansas, for example, an individual indicted for genuine wrongdoing like homicide, assault, abducting, uplifted theft, and presenting genuine security concerns isn't considered for parole until the person has carried out 70% of the first punishment (Rush, 2003). Detainees are qualified for parole after they serve at least 33% of their jail sentence with regards to lesser wrongdoings. In the United States, most states have received the state parole framework as a methods for checking stuffing in state penitentiaries. Be that as it may, the state and government parole frameworks have been under escalated reactions particularly during the 1970s. During this time, developments rose which pushed for the disbandment of the framework in numerous states. They saw the parole framework as a method of damaging ââ¬Å"truth in sentencing.â⬠The pundits requested that detainees ought to be left to carry out their full punishment as controlled by the courts. Numerous states including Virginia (1995) have abrogated the parole framework (Jackson, 2001). Truth be told, numerous states presently permit sentences of determinate life detainment without the chance of parole. Capital punishment for genuine violations like homicide and assault is additionally polished. Detainees who get neither of the sentences are qualified for parole after documenting an appeal for discharge. Another negative impact of parole as refered to by the pun dits is that it discharges famous hoodlums once again into the general public henceforth presenting genuine security concerns. Political systems with the most elevated frequencies of parole are viewed as being ââ¬Ësoft on crimeââ¬â¢ and powering exemption. With regards to condemning alternatives, Alaska is the main state which doesn't allow the death penalty and life detainment without the probability of parole (Rush, 2003). Where parole is appropriate, a detainee who shows great conduct might be qualified for parole simply after the slip by of at least 85% of the jail sentence passed on by the court (Schmalleger, 2005). Difficulties with paying attention to others, missing important verbal and nonverbal cues, impulsively reacting or saying things that may be hurtful, moodiness, quick temper, low tolerance for frustrations, forgetfulness, zoning out in conversations, oversensitivity to criticism, emotional over-reactions, problems following through with commitmentsâ"these are just some of the issues that make dating and maintaining positive relationships hard for an individual with ADD. Tackling all these issues at once can feel quite overwhelming, but finding the right partner is a good first step. Though the ADD behaviors that may get you in trouble are yours to address and manage, with a good partner, this task becomes a little easier. In order for the relationship to thrive, you must also be compatible with this person. If you want to maintain the relationship over the long term, you must also address negative patterns that have gotten you in trouble in the past. Positive connections with others are vitally important to our well-being. When you surround yourself with people who appreciate and value you, life is much more fulfilling. A person with a positive outlook and attitude is contagious. Finding the Right Partner Beginning to date or re-entering the dating process after a divorce can be an exciting and thrilling time, but it can also be filled with uncertainty, anxiety and even rejection. How do you know if this new person is a good match for you? How do you know if it is love or just the excitement of a new partner? When you are feeling vulnerable and rusty about the dating scene, how do you open yourself up to potential heartbreak and emotional pain? Make a List Start by sitting down in a quiet place and making a list of the qualities you value in a mate. After you have brainstormed about the list, prioritize each, from most important to least important. Are you looking for someone who will provide excitement and high activity, or do you prefer a stable and low-key person to balance out your energy level? Is it important to you that this person connects with your family members? What values do you want this person to have? What interests? What are your relationship goals? Are you looking for fun and lighthearted companionship, or are you seeking a long-term relationship and life partner? If you are currently dating someone, make a list of the qualities you like about this person. What initially attracted you to this person? Are there things about this person that bother you? Can you accept these qualities, or do you feel a nagging suspicion that as the relationship progresses, you may be less inclined to be accepting of them? If this person also has ADD, are they involved in treatment and actively getting help in managing their own ADD symptoms? How do you feel around this person â" happy and relaxed or insecure and rather tense? Can you be yourself around this person? If you are looking for a life partner, is this someone with whom you want to spend the rest of your life? Enlist the Help of a Trusted Friend Sometimes it helps to sit down with a trusted and supportive friend or family member to help you think through this process. It is not unusual for an individual with ADD to become so consumed with a new relationship that all objective thought flies out the door. When youâre right in the middle of a situation, your own perception may get skewed. You may also miss important clues or warning signs about the relationship that an outside party, who has your best interest at heart, is better able to point out to you. Review Your Relationship History Think through your past relationships, both the negative ones and the positive ones. What patterns are present? Do you tend to go full force into a relationship that fizzles out when the excitement of the âhoneymoonâ period dies down? Do you have a pattern of choosing the wrong partner, because you donât absorb all the social cues and warning signs others may see from the start? Do you have difficulty unwinding and connecting intimately? Do your impulsive reactions or inattention to the relationship get you in trouble and push your partner away? Do you end up sabotaging the relationship, provoking fights or arguments? Do you tend to stay in a bad relationship too long just hoping that person will change? Develop Positive Strategies Once you have identified past relationship problems, work on coming up with solutions. Areas that are often most difficult for individuals with ADD tend to center around deficits in self-controlâ"distractibility and inattention within the relationship that may be perceived by a partner as uncaring, problems in regulating emotions and inhibiting behaviors that may lead to hurt or irritated feelings. Medication is often very effective in reducing the severity of these symptoms. Additionally, strategies, such as self-talk, role-playing and practicing positive interactions, becoming more aware of emotional triggers and taking time out to decompress, etc., can help in forming and maintaining healthy relationships. Education about ADD is also important. When you and your partner understand how ADD affects your relationship, the plan for addressing issues becomes much clearer. If you are feeling stuck or unsure about what to do, donât hesitate to get help from others, especially from healthcare professionals experienced in treating ADD. Good Old Honest Communication Good, open, honest communication is essential in any relationship. Be friends first. Continue to assess the progress in your relationship. Sit down together on a regular basis and talk about how the relationship is going. Constructively and in a sensitive way address any problems. Be solution focused, not blameful. Try not to personalize negative feedback, instead talk together about how things may be done differently so both of you feel happy. If you tend to talk a lot, try talking less and listening more when you are together. Maintain eye contact while your partner is speaking. Show an interest, and let him or her know you care. Plan activities together that you both enjoy. Laugh warmly together. Take it slow. Donât rush the relationship. The strongest connections are built on good, honest trust and respect that can only be gained over time. Amidst the completion of the U.S. Constitution in 1788, when it had come time to ratify it, there was a general divide amongst the framers and the people. It seemed to split into two groups; the Federalists who favored the ratification and supported the expansion to a stronger and moreâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦But despite the separation of powers, the Anti-Federalists were still wary of the federal government having too much power. There were only a few individual rights protections included in the original writing of the Constitution; whether it was out of fear that providing a list of p rotected rights might end up being incomplete and later interpreted to deny not listed rights, or because they had believed that they were creating a central government with limited powers that couldnââ¬â¢t possibly have the authority to violate the individual rights the people deserved. Among the few that were included were ones such as, the Writ of Habeas Corpus not being suspended, unless in case of rebellion or invasion, then the prohibition of ex post facto laws and bills of attainder to prevent the punishment of crimes that occurred before they were illegal and singling out groups and individuals for certain punishments. The privileges and immunities clause essentially protects from states being able to discriminate against out of state citizens in regards to certain individual rights. The privileges and immunities clause however only extended to fundamental rights. The framers identified the protection from the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus except in cases of rebellion and invasion in order to protect citizens from being taken and held prisoner with no legal Shara Keelerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14864434500856204517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5569413190858569822.post-28352143165067056662020-05-06T13:59:00.001-07:002020-05-06T13:59:26.354-07:00African-American History Free Essays string(23) " the North of America\." African-American history Booker T. Washington and W. E. We will write a custom essay sample on African-American History or any similar topic only for you Order Now B. Du Bois had contrasting views on how to deal with the problems facing American-Americans. Which was superior in dealing with these conflicts? Booker T. Washington and WEB Du Bois are perhaps the two most important and influential African-Americanââ¬â¢s of the late nineteenth century and they both played pivotal roles in the Civil Rights movement. However, as the question suggests, they also had very contrasting political beliefs when it came to impacting the African-American movement. To fully understand where the two leaders had similarities and contrasts in their political views, I will first study Washingtonââ¬â¢s contributions to the African-American cause, and the reasons behind his choices. Focus will then shift to Du Boisââ¬â¢ views and his main criticisms of Washington, and whether these criticisms were valid or not. To understand the methods and reactions of Washington and Du Bois it is first essential to understand the background they were functioning in. During the late nineteenth century, when Washington and Du Bois were at their peak, Reconstruction had failed and life for many African-Americanââ¬â¢s was considerably worse then it had been before the American Civil War and the abolishment of slavery. African-Americanââ¬â¢s found themselves in the worse paid jobs in both rural areas, where they were exploited by an unfair sharecropping system, and in more urban areas, where the industrial revolution was beginning to take hold. Segregation was also rapidly moving throughout American society being reinforced in 1896 by the Plessy vs. Fergusoncase where it was decided that segregation was constitutional under the argument that it was ââ¬Å"separate but equalâ⬠. More worryingly, during this time the number of African-Americans falling victim to lynching was rapidly growing. Due to these worsening conditions many African-American leaders of the time developed a tolerating attitude towards the obvious oppression there people were suffering, believing that outspoken protest would only make situations worse, and so instead they would appeal for aid from wealthy and influential whites and encourage African-Americans to ââ¬Å"lift themselves by their bootstrapsâ⬠[1]. When looking at the background context it becomes clear why Washington and Du Bois had differing views when it came to Civil Rights. Washington had been born a slave in the South and grew up poorly fed and clothed and was denied an education. Growing up in the South Washington would have had first hand experience with the sort of discrimination many African-Americanââ¬â¢s were faced with at the time and would have also understood the real fear many African-Americanââ¬â¢s had of lynching. With this in mind it can be seen why Washington would have been more cautious in his methods of progressing Civil Rights. Du Bois by contrast was born a freeman in the North and didnââ¬â¢t suffer discrimination until he entered higher education, and so it is understandable why he would not have had the same reservations as Washington when it came to a more radical approach to dealing with the oppression of African-Americans. Washingtonââ¬â¢s work for the African-American race can be most clearly seen when looking at the Tuskegee Institution, which still exists today. The school opened in July 1881 and was at the outset only space rented from a local church, with only one teacher, that being Washington. The following year Washington was able to purchase a former plantation, which became the permanent site of the school, and the students themselves erected and fitted the buildings, as well as growing their own crops and rearing their own livestock. While the Tuskegee Institute did offer some academic training for teachers, its main focus was on providing practical skills needed to survive in rural areas, such as carpentry and modern agricultural techniques. It can be argued that this more vocational slant towards teaching was damaging in the progression of African-American rights, however Washington believed that to become socially equal to whites, African-Americans must first become economically equal and show that they are responsible American citizens, who had something to offer society. Also, it can be argued that the practical teaching of the Tuskegee Institute was far more beneficial for the time than academic teaching would have been. The Institute is also a good example of why perhaps Washington had some merit with his views of appeasement. Washington was able to use his friendship with powerful white men to help finance the school and even got ex-slave owners, such as George W. Campbell, to support the new school. Without this aid it is unlikely that the Tuskegee Institute would have ever evolved from a small rented room into the huge institution that it is today. While the Tuskegee Institute showcased Washingtonââ¬â¢s views on education the Atlanta Expedition Address illustrated what he supposedly believed African-Americanââ¬â¢s place in society should be. Washington delivered the ddress in 1895, and was designed to ââ¬Å"cement the friendship of the races and bring about hearty cooperation between themâ⬠[2]. Washingtonââ¬â¢s main purpose with the Atlanta Address was to help achieve a realistic settlement between Southern Whites, Northern Whites and the African-American community in a time when race relations were only getting worse. Washington was no doubt anxious not to antagonise the white populatio n who held African-Americanââ¬â¢s at their mercy, and so he ââ¬Å"urged blacks to remain in the South, work at the ââ¬Ëcommon occupations of lifeââ¬â¢, and accept the fact of white supremacyâ⬠[3]. When addressing the white population in his speech Washington reassured them that African-Americanââ¬â¢s had no intention or interest in securing social equality, that all they required was economic cooperation, ââ¬Å"In all things that are purely social we can be as separate as the fingers, yet one as the hand in all things essential to mutual progressâ⬠[4]. The work Washington did for African-American crossed over into the twentieth century with the creation of the National Negro Business Leaguein 1900. The aim of the League was to help promote and further the commercial and financial development of African-American business [5], not only in the South but also the North of America. You read "African-American History" in category "Papers" The creation of the League empathized Washingtonââ¬â¢s belief that to become socially equal to whites that African-Americanââ¬â¢s must first become economically equal. However it can be argued that the League held little importance when considering African-American business as it did little to assist, but that it allowed Washington to have a ââ¬Å"strongholdâ⬠of men in every black population of importance [6]. Compared to Washington Du Bois political views can be seen as being quite radical for the social climate of the time. Du Bois probably had more radical views because of his different background, as he didnââ¬â¢t have a history of slavery and did live in fear of lynching the way many African-Americanââ¬â¢s did at the time. However, Du Bois did share some similarities in thought with Washington, for example Du Bois also believed that African-Americanââ¬â¢s needed to help bring themselves out of social inequality. However, unlike Washington, Du Bois believed that African-Americanââ¬â¢s needed leadership from a college-educated elite and that simple vocational education wasnââ¬â¢t enough to elevate the position of African-Americanââ¬â¢s in society, ââ¬Å"Men we shall have only as we make manhood the object of the work of the schools ââ¬â intelligence, broad sympathy, knowledge of the world that was and is, and of the relation of men to it ââ¬â this is the curriculum of that Higher Education which must underlie true life. On this foundation we may build bread winning, skill of hand and quickness of brain, with never a fear lest the child and man mistake the means of living for the object of lifeâ⬠[7], Du Bois set out the ideas of an elite group of African-Americanââ¬â¢s teaching other African-Americanââ¬â¢s in his ââ¬Å"The Talented Tenthâ⬠article, the idea being that there was one in ten African-Americanââ¬â¢s, the talented tenth, was capable of becoming an influential leader, who would lead other African-Americanââ¬â¢s to a better future. Du Bois had many criticism of Washington, many of which he set out in an essay in 1903 titled ââ¬Å"Of Mr Booker T Washington and Othersâ⬠. Du Bois felt that Washington focused too much on vocational education and that ââ¬Å"his educational program was too narrowâ⬠[8]. This particular criticism no doubt evolved from Du Boisââ¬â¢ own education which was wide and varied, and his more privileged background which allowed him the luxury of exploring avenues of education that wouldnââ¬â¢t directly lead to work. Du Bois also believed that Washingtonââ¬â¢s methods and arguments ââ¬Å"practically accepts the alleged inferiority of the Negro racesâ⬠[9]. This criticism is almost entirely valid as Washington himself stated that African-Americans should accept White Supremacy in his Atlanta Expedition Address, and while it is doubtful that Washington himself saw the African-American race as inferior, he did little to try and convince the general population otherwise. Washington urged African-Americanââ¬â¢s to earn security through economic means and technical skills, and he put little importance on higher education and political and social rights, believing that they would follow naturally from economic freedom. However Du Bois argued that this approach would lead to many African-Americanââ¬â¢s living below the poverty line, because he believed that it was impossible for most people to gain economic rights and freedoms when they were unequal socially. Du Bois also clashed with Washington due to their differing political ideologies. While Washington championed capitalist ideals, Du Bois, who became a leading Black Marxist, felt that any social freedoms gained by economic progress would make the African-American population into dishonest money makers [10]. Du Boisââ¬â¢ Marxist views came into play with other disparagements he had with Washington, most apparent in 1903 when Du Bois tried to prove Washington was using ââ¬Å"hush moneyâ⬠to control the African-American press, to make sure his own views were the more favoured in print [11]. To some degree Du Boisââ¬â¢ criticisms of Washington were valid, as Washington did little to resolve the social issues that plagued the African-American race, so as not to seem controversial or threatening to the white population. However, when looking at the backgrounds of the two leaders it becomes obvious why they had such opposing views. Washington had been born a Slave in the South and so he would naturally be more cautious and reserved when dealing with the white population as he knew the damage that a majority population could cause to African-Americanââ¬â¢s. He matured in a time when the number of lynchings was ever growing, and so he would fully recognise and understand the fear most African-Americanââ¬â¢s lived with. Du Bois by contrast, was born a freeman in the North, which was far more liberal and accepting than the South and so he didnââ¬â¢t have a proper grasp of the everyday problems and anxieties many African-Americansââ¬â¢ dealt with. It can also be argued that while Du Bois spent large amounts of his time criticising Washington, he actually did nothing practical to forward the progress of African-Americansââ¬â¢ the way Washington did with the Tuskegee Institute. While Du Bois was Washingtonââ¬â¢s most vocal and famous opponent, he was far from the only challenger. A black president of Atlanta University, John Hope, was vocal of his disagreement with Washingtonââ¬â¢s Atlanta Address, stating in 1896 ââ¬Å"I regard it as cowardly and dishonest for any of our coloured men to tell white people and coloured people that we are not struggling for equality. Now catch your breath, for I am going to say that we demand social equalityâ⬠[12]. While this view was to be expected among Northern black leaders, Hope shattered the illusion that all African-Americanââ¬â¢s in the South were willing to simply accept their lowered social status. William Monroe Trotter, editor of the Boston Guardian, was another of Washingtonââ¬â¢s most unforgiving critics and claimed that ââ¬Å"[Washington], whatever good he may do, has injured and is injuring the race more than he can aid it by his school. Let us hope that Booker Washington will remain mouth-closed at Tuskegee. If he will do this, all his former sins will be forgivenâ⬠[13]. Trotterââ¬â¢s views are to some degree far harsher than Du Boisââ¬â¢ were, but the general idea theme is the same, that Washington was not helping the African-American race by deemphasising the importance of social equality, and that he was in fact hindering to movement. Trotter also challenged Washington at a National Negro Business League meeting in Boston while Washington was giving a speech. Trotter posed a number of questions that challenged Washington and his views, before he was arrested. While Washington did not respond to the challenges, Trotter made his point and the incident was reported as ââ¬Å"The Boston Riotâ⬠the next day in papers. As can be seen, Washington and Du Bois had to some degree very opposing views on how to handle and progress the African-American race. Washington put great empathise on vocational education that would give practical skills to African-Americanââ¬â¢s living in the South. Rather than focus on social and political equality, Washington stressed the importance of economic advancement, believing that once the average African-American had the power of wealth that political and social freedoms and powers would follow. Washington felt there was great importance in appeasing the white majority, for the economic and political power it affording him in furthering the African-American cause and because he lived in the turbulent South, where it was dangerous to be a radical black man. Du Boisââ¬â¢ political ideas contrasted with Washingtonââ¬â¢s idea of ââ¬Å"appeasementâ⬠and he had a far more radical approach to Civil Rights. Du Bois didnââ¬â¢t think that it was possible for African-Americanââ¬â¢s to achieve economic equality before they had achieved social and political equality. Du Boisââ¬â¢ more radical approach stems from his background, as he did not share the same fear as Washington and did not experience the same forms of racism. Bu Bois could afford to be more radical has he had not experienced slavery and his placement in the North meant that he did not share the fear of lynching that many in the South had. Du Bois also put more empathise on academic teaching and did not feel that Washingtonââ¬â¢s vocational education would be useful in helping the progress of African-Americans. However, Washington and Du Bois did share some similarities in political thought. They both recognised the importance of having the support of powerful white men, who could both finance and encourage their cause. While both Washington and Du Bois had good arguments for doing things in their particular ways, it is probably safe to say that neither had perfect strategies. Washington was too timid to argue for equality, and Du Bois had no practical ideas he could implement. It is fair to suggest that a mixture of their two views would have been the best way to progress the African-American cause, as Washington had practical methods of improved the average African-Americanââ¬â¢s life, such as the Tuskegee Institute, and Du Bois was able to protest the obvious oppression that African-Americansââ¬â¢ suffered. Answer: Physical layer of 802.11b and 802.11a 802.11b: As like any other wireless technology, the IEEE 802.11b standard offers a suitable wireless alternative to wired networks based on a short frequency range application. It is a simple standard that requires a minimal cost to establish. Now, physical layer characteristics (inner workings): 11b operates within the ISM frequency range, a range that encapsulates Industrial Scientific and Medical services. This range is given as 2.4 GHz to 2.4835 GHz. Secondly, it has a convenient chip rate for its radio spectrum interface i.e. 11 MHz which will enable the transmission rate of 1 to 11 Mbps(Geier, 802.11a Physical Layer Revealed, 2003). Furthermore, its frequency band is divided into 14 sections of 22 MHz thickness which diversifies the operational bandwidth. Finally, its operations are supported by several modulation techniques including complementary code checking (CCK) and direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS). Application of these techniques depends on the data rate being used(Koivisto, 2006). Another suitable alternative to wired systems where wireless communication is supported using the radio spectrum. 802.11a is characterized by the use of OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) technique, which increases the bandwidth of transmission. Now, the physical layer: 11a uses the physical layer convergence procedure (PLCP) to convert data frames into the protocol data units (PPDU). This PDU contains fields such preamble, parity value and data rate among others, elements that facilitate communication(Geier, 802.11a Physical Layer Revealed, 2003). Moreover, its functional frequency band is given as 5 GHz, a connection that yields a high data rate of 54 Mbps. It also divides the frequency channel into 48 segments based on the original band of 20 MHz. This diversification of the radio spectrum increases the number of data rates, which enables it to offers various data options i.e. 6, 12 and 24 Mbps. Finally, its modulation is facilitated by different techniques again based on the data rates used. Binary phase shift keying (BPSK)for 6 Mbps and Quadrature amplitude technique (QAM) for 54 Mbps(Khan, 2013). Critical comparison 802.11b 802.11a Data rate 1 to 11 Mbps 6 to 24 Mbps Frequency band 2.4 GHz 5 GHz Modulation techniques CCK and DSSS BPSK and QAM The 802.11i A security protocol developed to solve the problems of the original standard of 802.11 which had various authentication limitations. In general, the 802.11 standards were developed to offer security features of authentication and encryption based on the Wi-Fi protection access (WPA). However, this structure had limitation based on its unencrypted systems, an outcome that exposed WLAN. Now, in its place is the 802.11i standard which provides a second generation security standard (WPA2) having enhanced encryption in the form of AES (Advanced encryption standard). Moreover, a four-way handshake is used based on the extensible authentication protocol (EAP)(Latour, 2012). Client getting server authentication: First, the client request access to the server by sending a notification EAP message. The access port then transmits an EAP message to identify itself. In response, the client encrypts its operations only for the server and authenticator to see. The server gets the messages and requests an identity verification. The client responds, which is either accepted or rejected by the server. If identity is verified, the client is given access to the server by the transformation of the access ports into the authorized state(electronics, 2017). The usage of Virtual Private Networks (VPN) As the name suggests, this technology offers internet subscribers the ability to transmit data using personalized and private channels. These channels are established across the greater medium of the internet where security is never guaranteed. VPNs, encrypt data based on several security protocols including IPsec and GRE (generic routing encapsulation). These protocols facilitate the encryption of data frames which minimizes intrusions based on interception techniques such as snooping and eavesdropping. Moreover, they facilitate the authentication of the access medium through personalized accounts or portals which improves accountability and operation conveniences(Cisco, 2000). Two general types of VPN exist: Site to site networks where big scale connections are established based on verified encryption standards, and Remote access where point to point access is given to users accessing LANs from remote locations. As a multinational organization, ZeeTech is growing at a tremendous rate which has necessitated the need for system expansion. Now, Wireless Metropolitan Area Network offers a convenient solution for this business as it would facilitate the exchange of information across a wider area while meeting the conveniences of wireless transmission. Several WMAN technologies are thus considered: WiMAX: using the 802.16 standards, WiMAX is outlined as the best alternative for meeting the WMAN connection requirement. This conclusion is based on the resources and services it offers including a wide coverage area as well as a high data rate (Omerovic). In all, this technology is characterized by the following features as related to ZeeTech applications: First, it establishes connections that facilitate the operation of first and last mile system which will boost services across the Melbourne branches. Secondly, it has a wide frequency band (10 GHz and 66 GHz) which increases the bandwidth of operation. It also stems down its functionalities to include low-frequency operations i.e. 11 GHz band range. Furthermore, its characterized by a high data rate of between 100 Mbit/s to 1 g Gbit/s. Its security features include high-level air interface encryption and authentication which enables end to end encryption. Finally, the cost is based on user requirements which increase the service quota(IEEE, 2016). HiperACCESS: another common WMAN technology that facilitates the implementation of broadband services across a medium-sized system. Now, while this technology may have a few limitations, it does offer backhaul services that include mobile technology solutions such as GSM. In all, it has the following features in relation to the case study: A relatively high data rate of 100Mbit/s Secondly, it does have a high-frequency band 40.5 GHz which also happens to limit low-frequency functionalities. This frequency range increases the coverage area, but it also affects the low-frequency systems as they are never supported. Advanced access control is used for security purposes. Finally, has a minimal implementation cost(WMICH, 2015). HiperMAN: The final alternative for WMAN networks, HiperMAN offers broadband connections based on a 2 GHz frequency band. It is also characterized by: Optimal transfer rates that reach up to 56.9 Mbit/s. A frequency band that facilitates low-frequency data transmission (below 11 GHz). Improved point to multipoint configuration, an outcome that facilitates the application of mesh networks. High-end encryption boosted by optimal modulation techniques. A low-cost solution(ETSI, 2009). 2G technologies Time division multiple access (TDMA) a multiplexing technique that is used in wireless communication to optimize the bandwidth of data transmission. The TDMA technique uses a time scheme to allocate space across the radio spectrum(point, 2017). In essence, the frequency band is split into several slots that are assigned to users based on a time allocation procedure. Features: Optimal for both data and voice transmission. Allocates radio spectrum space based on time. A cheap solution for analog to digital transmission. Code division multiple access (CDMA) another multiplexing technique that is used in wireless networks to maximize the bandwidth of operation. Unlike TDMA, CDMA does not allocate the space of the radio spectrum, instead, it facilitates transmission of several signals by using a pseudo-code identification scheme. Therefore, unique codes are assigned to the individual users who use the entire radio spectrum. Now, this outcome increases the individual bandwidth of the communicating signals which is a convenient solution for modern digital systems. Features: Offers an extended bandwidth of operation. High-end security features based on pseudo code encryption. Finally, optimal for both data and voice transmissions. Global system for mobile communications (GSM) another wireless technology that offers both digital and cellular functionalities. GSM is identified as an open technology as its function objectives promote integration and interoperability(FLETC, 2012). Furthermore, unlike the previous two, it uses circuit switching techniques to establish network connections. Features: A circuit-switched technology. Transmits both data and voice. References Cisco. Moreover, AirAsia has currently adopted information technologies strategically to integrate the operations and coordinate all the business and management functions. The followings are few system implementations that AirAsia has done in its marketing and sales activities as well as operation activity in the value chain. The lowest airlines like Air Asia attending low cost require high efficiency in every part of the business and maintaining simplicity. Therefore every system process must incorporate the best industry practices. The key components of the LCC business model are High aircraft utilization, No frills, Streamline Operations, Basic Amenities,Point to point network, Lean Distribution System. Aircraft is kept flying as much as possible, the first flight starts as early in the morning commercially possible and the final flight typically ends at midnight. A fast turnaround is critical to ensure time spent of the ground is minimal ââ¬â an airline makes money when the aircraft is flying, not when the aircraft is parked. AirAsiaââ¬â¢s turnaround time is 25 minutes; compare that against 1 hour for a FSC. On average, AirAsiaââ¬â¢s utilization per aircraft is 12 block hours per day, a FSC might do about 8 block hours per day. No frills such as no free food and beverages, free seating, no refund and no loyalty programme. Making the process as simple as possible is the key of a successful LCC. Single type of aircraft, single class seating, Standard Operating Procedures. Secondary airports. Low cost carriers mostly fly to and from airports that are not necessarily the busiest, for example, London Stanstead rather than London Heathrow. These are often referred to as secondary airports. Operating from so called secondary airports is cheaper than from the bigger major airports and they are also a lot less congested and ââ¬Å"turnaround timesâ⬠for aircraft are a lot shorter. Point to point network. LCC shuns the hub-and-spoke system and embraces the simple point-to-point network. Almost all AirAsia flights are short-haul (3 hour flight or less). No arrangements have been made with other airline companies on connecting flights, on possibilities of flight transfers, nor on having the luggage labeled and assed through from one flight to another. Distribution costs are something that FSC most often ignore. Very often, FSC relies on travel agents and from their posh sales office. Furthermore, FSC always blows the budget by complicating their distribution channels by integrating their systems with multiple Global Distribution Systems. LCC will keep their distribution channel as simple as possible and will cover the w hole spectrum of the clientele profile. For example, AirAsia can cater to the most sophisticated European traveler via internet and credit card sales. And at the same time, AirAsia has an established system to sell our tickets to the most remote and technology deprived locations, such as in Myanmar. When talking about LCC, some quarters will react with cynical and sometimes preposterous views. If a passenger must stand in a flight due to lack of seats or there will be chickens in the flight. Such misconceptions are not surprising, given the fact that scheduled, low-fare flights are a relatively new phenomenon in the world. The reason for the success of the new low cost carriers is very simple move the maximum number of passengers at the minimum of cost. The concept of LCC is based on the idea that people would fly a lot more often if it were more affordable. LCC airlineââ¬â¢s main mission is to make air travel the most simple, convenient and inexpensive form of transportation in the world. The fare differential between the full service carriers (FSC) and LCC can be as high as 40%-60% cheaper. Air Asia SWOT such as Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. Strengths analysis have low cost operations, fewer management level, effective, focused and aggressive management, simple proven business model that consistently delivers that lowest fares, multi-skilled staffs means efficient and incentive workforce, penetrate and stimulate to potential markets. Weaknesses analysis have limited human resources could not handle irregular situation, government interference and regulation on airport deals and passenger compensation, brand is vital for market position and developing it is always a challenge, and new entrants to provide the price-sensitive services. Oppurtunities analysis also have long haul flight is an trial to get undeveloped market share, differentiation from traditional LCC model by adding customer services or operation as full service airline with low fare, and ongoing industry consolidation has opened up prospects for new routes and airport deals. And the last one Threats analysis have full service airlines start cut costs to compete, high fuel price decreases yield, accident, terrorist attack, and disaster and affect customer confidence, increase in operation cost in producing value-added services, and system disruption due to heavily reliance on online sales. In AirAsia have Yield Management System (YMS) . This system is to anticipates and reacts to the behavior of customers to maximize the revenue. For some example, for the seat are available at various prices in different points of time. A reservation done at a later date will be charged more than the one done earlier for the same seat. For the Route is adjusting prices for routes or destinations that have a higher demand when compared to others. During off-peak times while raising prices only marginally for peak times. For the AirAsiaââ¬â¢s Computer Reservation is an integrated web-enabled reservation and inventory system suite powered by Navitaireââ¬â¢s Open Skies technology that includes Internet, call center, and airport departure control functionality. Computer Reservation System is also satisfy the unique needs of AirAsia implementing a low-cost business model to transform the business process to efficiently streamline operations. Enterprise Resource Planning System(ERP) in AirAsia is an integrated solution powered by Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) on Microsoft technology platform which is implemented by Avanade consultants in 2005. With the robust ERP technology platform, AirAsia is able to successfully maintain process integrity, reduce financial month-end closing processing time, speeds up reporting and data retrieval process. Customer Relationship Program (CRM) the information management process, the multichannel integration process, the value creation process, the strategy development process and the performance assessment process. The fundamental to a successful CRM strategy requires seamless customer-centric processes, supported by integrated technology across the enterprise and its supply chain which provide the right information at the right time. To ensure that technology solutions support CRM, CRM tools must be making trade offs in flexibility, customizability, cost, convenience and speed of deployment; certainly it must match to the needs of the business. However, CRM tool is just a supplement to CRM strategy, appropriate strategy and excellent implementation is essential for a successful CRM. Media provide a variety of stories about violent crimes associated with drug abuse.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Substance Abuse: Media Representation of Drug Abusers specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Officials keep talking about the necessity to launch programs aimed at promulgating healthy life styles. Admittedly, these strategies will help develop appropriate public opinion on the matter. Nevertheless, it is important to take into account various trends existing in the society. Thus, it is important to understand that the attitude towards substance abuse is not static as it is constantly changing. It is also crucial to make sure there is no bias in media representation of substance abusers as this negatively affects development of the Ame rican society. Finally, it is important to understand to what extent the image created by media does influence people and shapes their attitude towards substance abuse. Therefore, it is possible to state that appropriate media representation of substance abuse may help develop American society where drugs are seen as something harmful, unnecessary and needless. To develop appropriate strategies aimed at promulgating healthy life styles, it is necessary to make sure that they will be based on extensive data on substance abusers. According to Kugler and Darley (2012) the very image of drug abusers has changed throughout decades. In the twentieth century, ââ¬Å"the media supported a punitive approach to drug policyâ⬠(Kugler Darley, 2012, p. 217). Drug abusers were depicted as people who were often engaged in violent crime activities.Advertising Looking for research paper on health medicine? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn M ore Reportedly, Americans had concerns that their close ones might become victims of a variety of crimes associated with drugs (Kugler Darley, 2012). Nonetheless, the perception is changing as people start adopting less punitive approach in the twenty-first century. According to Kugler and Darley (2012, p. 217) ââ¬Å"only 30 percent of the public now believes that the government should emphasize arresting drug usersâ⬠and there is growing support of legalization of such substance as marijuana. In many states across the country, more and more people are changing their viewpoint on the matter. Marijuana is not seen as a harmful drug anymore as it is regarded as another medication. These trends signify the shift in public opinion. Now drugs are not regarded as primary concern in the American society. As has been mentioned above, media representation of drug abusers is subjected to a variety of prejudice. According to Cobbina (2008), racial and ethnic minority groups are often depicted as substance abusers. These groups of people are often associated with drug-related crimes. Cobbina (2008) implemented research based on analysis of more than 100 newspaper articles. The author found that African Americans had often been depicted as substance abusers and criminals who threatened order in the American society. Fig..1. Drug Use in 2002-2011 by Race. This figure illustrates the rates of drug abusers among different race groups (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2012).Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Substance Abuse: Media Representation of Drug Abusers specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More At this point, it is necessary to point out that race is not the defining factor when it comes to substance abuse. According to US Department of Health and Human Services (2012) Asians turned out to be the ethnic group with lower rates of substance abusers compared to other ethnic groups (see Figure 1). In 2011, the rate of substance abusers were as follows, African Americans (10%), whites (8.7%), Hispanics (8.4%) (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2012). Clearly, race is not the defining factor affecting peopleââ¬â¢s choice. At the same time, education and socioeconomic factors play primary roles (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2012). Minorities often face a lot of discrimination and they often have fewer opportunities. This may lead to lack of self-esteem which, in its turn, may lead to drug abuse. Nonetheless, the data show that ethnic groups have quite similar rates of drug abusers. Irrespective, of these data media continue developing an image of a substance abuser as a person of color who is often engaged in unlawful activities. Beckett et al. (2005) provided illustration of the image that persisted in the society in the end of the twentieth century and in the beginning of the twenty-first century. According to Beckett et al. (2005), the image of a non-white drug abuser is still strong and still affects the way police treat criminals and suspects. Now many people tend to believe that black or Hispanic drug abusers must be punished severely as they may be engaged in a variety of violent crimes whereas white drug abusers should be let off with warnings and fines and some public works. The reasons why people of different racial groups become substance abusers are also seen differently. White substance abusers are often seen as victims of unemployment, lack of opportunities, bad environment, etc. When it comes to people of color, many consider substance abusers to be criminals, not victims.Advertising Looking for research paper on health medicine? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More It is necessary to note that this image also persists in media which can have a variety of effects on the contemporary American society. According to Shaw, Whitehead and Giles (2010) media representation shapes public opinion and especially young peopleââ¬â¢s attitudes towards substance abuse to a considerable extent. The research implemented by Shaw, Whitehead and Giles (2010) illustrates this assumption. Thus, Amy Whitehouse is seen as a talented young female who became a victim of substance abuse. At that, she is seen as a victim of drug dealers. Though, the singer somewhat romanticized substance use in her works, people do not think that she stimulated young admirers to start taking drugs. On the contrary, her sudden death can be regarded as a precaution to all who might consider taking drugs. Amy Whitehouse is an illustration of an image of a white young female who is rather a victim of unfavorable environment. Shaw, Whitehead and Giles (2010) analyzed a number of newspapers articles and it turned out that those sources created the image of a victim. It is possible to elicit another image. Cobbina (2008) provided an illustration of another image. When it came to white arrestees, they were regarded as those who bought the substance for personal use. Again, white abusers were represented as victims who tried to escape from reality as they did not find another way to address their problems associated with financial constraints. At the same time, people of color were depicted as criminals who sold and bought drugs and were drug abusers. It is possible to note that media have created an image of a black arrestee who is a criminal and a threat to the American society. Clearly, these two images have been created on the basis of a variety of biases. People tend to think that people of color often live in poor neighborhoods with few opportunities and this, as people think, inevitably leads to drug abuse. More so, many think that people of color choose criminal path and become a threat to the entire society. At the same time, white abusers are regarded as victims of criminal groups. It is also necessary to note that media representation of substance abusers affects public opinion. Notably, many people keep talking about romanticizing of drugs use as many films and songs create images of a drug abuser who is creative, strong and free. However, latest surveys show that this representation is not enough to make young people start taking drugs (Shaw, Whitehead and Giles, 2010). Though, socioeconomic factors play essential role. Obviously, better life conditions and ââ¬Ëhealthyââ¬â¢ environment will encourage people to live without drugs. Media should also show the other side of drugs without emphasizing such points as ethnicity or race. To sum up, it is clear that media representation of drug abusers is subjected to changes. It reflects trends existing in the society. However, it also influences the way people see substance abusers. Ther efore, it is possible to launch various programs and initiatives to make people understand that drugs are harmful and unnecessary. Media can provide numerous stories creating adequate image of a drug abuser. Of course, this representation should be free from any bias. People cannot continue thinking that white substance abusers are only victims that should be understood and forgiven while people of color should be severely punished if associated with substance abuse. This wrongful representation leads to the situation when some people enjoy impunity whereas others are pursued for slightest mischief. Reference List Beckett, K., Nyrop, K., Pfingst, L. Bowen, M. The most difficult was to incorporate different points of view of the characters and events in order to understand the epoch and its values. This attempt shows that every personality has both good and bad features and it is incorrect to label a hero as "negative" or "positive" only. Every person has a dual nature which determines relations with other people and the world around us. 4. The strengths of the paper are clear themes and issues under analysis (sub-topics), examples which help to illustrate the main ideas and structure (introduction, thesis, four body paragraphs and conclusion). It is possible to add analysis of the other characters (Ruth, Asagai, Beneatha etc. but it would take more than 3 pages. 5. Historical overview of the epoch (culture and social movements) will help readers to grasp the idea and themes described in the paper. There are no certain events that led me to write on this topic, but I suppose that historical analysis of the society is the first step which helps me to understand the play and its characters. A play "A Raisin in the Sun" vividly reflects social values and ideals dominated in the society during 1950s. ... Thesis The play reflects the values of the society and norms typical for 1950s through family relations and social environment described by Lorraine Hansberry. The play depicts family life of African-Americans faced with racial discrimination and poverty. The Younger family belongs to working class faced with poverty and suffered from lack of money. Hansberry creates in Walter Lee a typical member of the low class with low-class ambitions, while at the same time he is a psychological study: self-deluding, a man unable to come to terms with reality. All of his dreams associated with wealth and luxury are transferred to a liquor store venture which promises to make Walter Lee a prosperous businessman. Walter comments "You see, this little liquor store we got in mind cost seventy-five thousand and we figured the initial investment on the place be 'bout thirty thousand, see... Baby, don't nothing happen for you in this world 'less you pay somebody off!" (Act 1, Scene 1). The whole play is constructed around the theme of money which shapes the atmosphere of the epoch. This theme is reflected through the character of Walter Lee. Only money rules the world of low classes and forces them to forget about human dignity and human code of ethics. On the other hand, Hansberry vividly portrays a difference between the old generation represented by Mama and young people like Walter Lee and his wife, Ruth. Because of poverty and hard work, money is the only way for young people to realize their dreams. Hansberry unveils that nothing is sacred for the young generation. For instance, Willy is indifferent towards his wife and unborn child driven by desire for money. Conversely, it is important to appreciate the fact that although displacements, migrations and perceived lack or flux of geo-political boundaries have closely knit contemporary artists from many parts of the world into a global assemblage of persons with common interests, yet the same has led to the strengthening of national cultural heritage, vis-à -vis, the strengthening of contemporary artistes in their given country. This happens as any country or geopolitical entity or body politic become aware of the fact that through globalization, multiculturalism is acting as a force that gnaws away at a peopleââ¬â¢s socio-cultural values and heritage. It is against this backdrop that states, countries, nation-states or other geopolitical entities have come to craft and ratify policies that are to consolidate or strengthen cultural and social heritage. Chiefly featuring among these policies is the creation of the aforementioned associations which are nevertheless nation or state-specific. The Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc. [commonly known as CAS] exists and functions as a non-profiting organization seeks to promote the interests of artists interested in contemporary art works exemplifies government attempts to consolidate contemporary artists within the confines of geopolitical boundaries. CAS is run by artists, for the benefits. Introduction Recent research in comparative accounting has led to a number of interesting theories and models that have attempted to analyse the causal factors behind the evolution of dissimilar accounting and financial systems in different countries. These diverse ways of accounting are in the process of being harmonised because of global business imperatives, and international accounting bodies are trying to bring about convergence between the accounting systems of different countries.[1] The work of Geert Hofstede[2] on cultural effects on accounting development, expanded and elaborated by Gray[3] later in his theory of cultural relevance in the formation of accounting systems is one of the more discussed models of comparative accounting. It is the purpose of this assignment to elaborate on this model and use it to analyse the differences in the development of accounting in China and Japan in the late nineteenth century. 2. The Hofstede-Gray Framework The broad framework for this model was created by Hofstede, but later adapted by Gray to explain the influence of culture on accounting systems. While, the normal practice is to treat these two models separately, a joint reference makes it much simpler to explain and use. The Hofstede-Gray model fist lays down the argument and then goes on to elaborate the various premises that support the theory. It is essentially deductive in nature and logical in its approach. Hofstede, in 1980, developed a model of culture that distinguishes members of one human group from another and stated that culture manifests itself at four levels, symbols, heroes, rituals and values, all of which work towards ââ¬Å" accounting systems to vary along national cultural linesâ⬠[4] His theory was further modified during the next ten years. In1984 he expounded the four very interesting dimensions of culture, which vary from one group to another and consist of Individualism V Collectivism, Large V Small Power Distance, Strong V Weak Power Avoidance and Masculinity V Femininity. These, he said are the most common societal preferences that distinguish one society from another. Societies which prefer individualism consist of people who live in small units and prefer to look after their very own, whereas collectivism represents a social structure where relationships are interlinked and people expect their larger extended clan of relatives to look after them in exchange of loyalty. Power distance represents the extent to which its members accept the inequality in distribution of power. Large power distance societies are thus essentially unquestioningly hierarchical in nature. Uncertainty avoidance represents the degree to which members of society are ready to accept uncertainty and vagueness. The lesser the acceptance of uncertainty the stronger is the rigidity of thought and belief in a particular society and its resistance to change. Masculinity, in a society, stands for its dominant preference for achievement, heroism and similar symbols while femininity is associated with qualities like compassion, care for the weak and quality of life. In 1991,[5] Hofste de added another dimension that dealt with Short Term V Long Term Orientation. Short term orientation stood for values like speedy achievement of social status, overspending and a concern for quick results whereas long term orientation looked at gradual achievement of results, a thrifty approach towards savings and an adaptation of tradition to meet modern needs. In 1998, Gray took up Hofstedeââ¬â¢s cultural hypotheses and linked them to the development of accounting systems in a meaningful way, stating that cultural or societal values permeated through organisational and occupational subcultures, and vice versa, though obviously the degree of integration differed from place to place. ââ¬Å"Accounting systems and practices can influence and reinforce societal valuesâ⬠.[6] These basic premises were succeeded by the formulation of four hypotheses on the relationship between specifically identified cultural characteristics and the development of accounting systems. a) Professionalism versus statutory control: This cultural value denotes an inclination for the exercise of individual professional judgment and self-regulation as opposed to observance of authoritarian lawful needs and legislative writ. As such, the higher a country ranks in terms of individualism and the lower it ranks in terms of uncertainty avoidance and power distance, the more likely it is to rank highly in terms of professionalism. b) Uniformity versus flexibility: This reflects a preference for the enforcement of standardized accounting practices between firms, and for the unswerving use of such practices, vis a vis flexibility in accordance with the perceived circumstances of individual companies, e.g., the higher a country ranks in terms of uncertainty avoidance and power distance and the lower it ranks in terms of individualism, the more likely it is to rank highly in terms of uniformity. c) Conservatism versus optimism: This value results in an inclination for cautiousness in measurement that enables systems to handle the ambiguity of future events, as opposed to a positive, risk-taking approach, thus implying that the higher a country ranks in terms of uncertainty avoidance, the more likely it is to be conservative and resistant to change. d)Secrecy versus transparency: This premise states that an inclination for confidentiality and revelation of information about businesses only to those who are closely concerned with its administration and financing, is linked to higher societal preferences for uncertainty avoidance, power distance and masculinity, The Hofstede-Gray model stands out among various models of comparative accounting for its comprehensiveness in linking culture with the development of various economic tools like accounting systems. 3. The Development of Accounting Systems in China and Japan in the Nineteenth Century Global accounting systems, including the various country GAAPs and the IFRS, is moving towards convergence of accounting systems spurred by the requirements of all transnational players to present one set of financial statements and eliminate multiple reconciliations. Even China, with the introduction of the Chinese Accounting Standards (CAS) is putting its state controlled accounting practices aside and moving towards the IFRS. This assignment deals with a similar historical situation in the nineteenth century when aggressive western businesses had begun to dominate eastern trade and commerce and western accounting systems were establishing their predominance in vastly different business cultures. At this time both China and Japan had accounting systems that had developed through centuries and served the purposes of businesses in both countries. In China a primitive method of double entry existed, which permitted the extraction of trial balances and the determination of profit on a cash basis. The country had developed a ââ¬Å"four-legâ⬠accounting system that allowed for the recording of cash and non cash transactions in journals and subsequent posting in ledgers, using double-entry techniques. Despite their availability, these systems were used mainly by banks and large state enterprises. The bulk of businesses continued to use single entry recording techniques and did not provide for differentiation of private and business accounts. Even though the systems were adequate for the running of normal business operations, the needs changed with the emergence of business enterprises from the west and the establishment of joint stock enterprises for coal mining and iron manuf acture. The structure of the new business enterprises required the computation of profit and loss for the purpose of dividends, and asset and depreciation accounting. The indigenous book keeping systems proved to be deficient because of existing practices that depended on trust, the absence of formal source documents, unnumbered books, lack of cross referencing and sequence, lack of differentiation between capital and revenue expenditure and relative unimportance of profit determination. ââ¬Å"In view of their weaknesses, the indigenous bookkeeping systems were of limited use as a basis for internal control.â⬠[7] The development of accounting in neighbouring Japan, had also developed significantly, though on dissimilar lines. While accountants did use a system of double entry in some of the bigger businesses, there was no uniform method of accounting and ââ¬Å"separate bookkeeping methods were developed and kept secret by independent economic powers, such as the Tomiyama, the Tanabes, the Nakais, the Hyogos, the Kondohs, the Honmas, the Hasegawas, the Ishimotos, the Onos, the Kohnoikes, and the Mitsuis.â⬠Methods used thus ranged from the primitive to those that were reasonably adequate. Although the double-entry concept was applied, most Japanese merchants practiced single-entry bookkeeping, called the daifukucho There was no systematic classification of accounts, nor any distinction between capital and revenue expenditures, and the cash basis of accounting was adopted. As in China, the indigenous accounting systems were adequate in a feudal economy where production and distribution were on a small scale [Nishikawa, 1956; Someya, 1989]. [8] The accounting systems of the two countries towards the middle and latter part of the nineteenth century, though developing independently, thus had many things in common. These deficiencies made them inadequate for the purposes of larger joint stock business corporations, brought in by the proliferation of British imperialism in Asia and the commencement of business with the United States. In subsequent years, the responses of China and Japan to these challenges were vastly different. The Chinese businesses steadfastly refused to adopt western accounting technologies and the majority remained with the single entry, four pillar balancing method until the twentieth century; even in companies that made use of large scale western machinery. This led to numerous difficulties and the emergence of widespread defalcation because of lack of control, and also unfortunately to the gradual takeover of businesses by western companies, because of lack of control. ââ¬Å"Not surprisingly, from 1884, the opportunity to gain mercantile support for private investment in kuantu shangpan joint-stock enterprises vanished [Chan, 1996]â⬠[9] In Japan, the response was enormously different. Japanese students travelled in large numbers to the west to to imbibe science, technology and entrepreneurial skills. Accounting modernisation occurred rapidly and ââ¬Å"western-style double-entry bookkeeping was introduced as the foundation on which a capitalist economy could develop.â⬠[10] A number of western accounting books, adequately translated, found their way into japanese markets and nationalised Banks adopted British balance sheets. Legislation was introduced for businesses to adhere to standardized accounting systems and a number of accounting schools started providing qualified accountants to service businesses. The large scale adoption of western accounting by Japan and its rejection by the Chinese has exercised the curiosity of business historians for many years. The answers are now coming through and are related mostly to differences in culture, as put forward by the Hofstede-Gray model. In China political power was centralised, the society was resistant to change, learning was narrow and restricted to Confucianism, and society was in a state of ââ¬Å"bureaucratic feudalismâ⬠. The economy was self sufficient and isolationist. In Japan, however, political power was dispersed; the society was open to change and very much dependent on foreign trade. Learning was broad based and the culture pro-merchant. While the continuous political conflict in Japan kept it perpetually unstable it also reduced intolerance and made it much more open to accepting western techniques in accounting. The reasons for the Japanese adoption and Chinese rejection of western accounting principles were largely c ultural and social. While, they contributed largely to the flow of foreign capital and formation of much larger companies in Japan, they also inversely led to the gradual impoverishment of the Chinese economy and the emergence of the communist regime. 4. The Relevance of the Hofstede-Gray Model to the Chinese and Japanese Accounting Systems The Hofstede-Gray model of the influence of culture on the development of accounting systems appears to be perfectly valid in evaluating the divergent behaviour of two different cultures to the same stimuli. Social and cultural patterns in China led to very high levels of Uncertainty Avoidance and Power Distance. The central government had far reaching powers and control. The main activity was agriculture and the primary source of revenue came from land. The scholar bureaucrats were inward looking and not willing to progress beyond Confucian tenets. Bureaucracy was all pervasive and stability in society was maintained despite intermittent conflict. The whole system thus revolved around age old customs and levels of uncertainty avoidance were extremely high. Similarly the land based feudal bureaucracy ensured large levels of power distance and these two factors, along with the isolationist, closed door approach of centuries led to inflexibility, conservatism and secrecy; and the conse quent non-adoption, if not downright rejection of modern western accounting principles. Japan, on the other hand, though not far away from China, had a very different social and cultural milieu. There were a number of economically and politically powerful landowners and these, along with the priesthood that controlled independent Buddhist shrines, were able to successfully disperse political power. The country, unlike China was largely dependent on foreign trade, which resulted in an intellectual open door policy and flexibility towards the requirements of trading partners. The country thus had very low levels of uncertainty avoidance and the dispersion of political power had made people more independent and thereby reduced the power distance. All these factors led to high levels of flexibility, forward thinking optimism and openness to new ideas, as required by the Hofstede-Gray framework, making it much easier to adapt to western accounting systems when the situation demanded. 5. Conclusion Research into comparative accounting is a recent phenomenon and still under great discussion and debate. In fact, Grayââ¬â¢s framework is less than a decade old and has been questioned at length by other experts, with people arguing that the conclusions are subjective and capable of different interpretations. The fact remains that accounting systems have grown in divergent ways between countries that, though physically proximal, are culturally quite divergent. Another major example is that of the UK and The Netherlands, where, despite similar trading, commercial and expansionist practices, accounting systems grew differently, and remained so, until the emergence of the EU and globalisation initiated moves for convergence. The Hofstede-Gray theory thus does appear to give some of the answers to the enigma concerning the adoption of different accounting, financial and even auditing systems between countries which have divergent social and cultural norms. Ambition is described as eager for success, power or fame. For Macbeth. Ambition was what drove him to become great, it forced him to change his nature towards evil. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth was portrayed as a courageous soldier who fought for his King without mercy. But once the witches planted the seeds of greater things and Lady Macbeth fuelled his ambition, which lead him to become greedy and power hungry. Macbeth was led down to an unescapable road of doom by an outside force, namely fate in the form of the three witches. There was no supernatural force working against Macbeth, which therefore makes him responsible for his own actions and inevitable downfall. Macbeth is indeed responsible for his own actions, which are provoked by an unwillingness to listen to his own conscience, the witches, and his ambition. The witches tempted Macbeth with their prophecies, which made Macbethà ¡Ã ¦s heart and mind slowly filled with ambition and his huger for power. The witches predicted, at the beginning of the play, that Macbeth would soon become the Thane of Cawdor and eventually the outright King. They tell Macbeth this, simply to ignite what would finally end up in him taking the life of King Duncan. Ambition, no matter how small, builds up, and becomes a need. When this ambition is built up and encouraged, it can influence a personââ¬â¢s decision. Macbeth went to three witches, who prophesized that he would become King. This got Macbeth thinking of how he can become King. At this time, he was still unsure of whether he would take any action toward gaining the crown. When he comes back to his house, Lady Macbeth convinces him to murder King Duncan, through emotionally degrading him, shown in the quote: ââ¬Å"Art thou afeard/ To be the same in thine own act and valour/ As thou art in desire?â⬠(Act I, Scene IV). This quote shows how Lady Macbeth influenced Macbethââ¬â¢s decision, because after hearing about the prophecy, she also had the ambition for her husband to become King. Macbeth slowly becomes accustomed to killing and does it more easily and without remorse. For example, after Macbeth becomes king, he begins to worry about the second part of the prophecy, when Banquoââ¬â¢s sons become kings. Knowing that he will not have any heirs, Macbeth dreads the idea of ââ¬Å"theà seeds of Banquo kings. Rather than so, come fate into the list, and champion me to the utteranceâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (3.1.70-73). Since he committed a sinful act to fulfill his desire become king, Macbeth does not want to lose everything he got to Banquoââ¬â¢s royal bloodline This shows how corrupt and villainous Macbeth has become; he will not let anything, not even friendship, get in the way of his desire to be the King of Scotland. And if the destruction of friendship is not a symbol of how strong Macbethââ¬â¢s ambition truly is, then the manslaughter of an innocent manââ¬â¢s entire family is. When Macbeth sees the three apparitions, one of them tells him to beware Macduff . Surprisingly, after Macbeth learns that Macduff has fled to England, he responds by declaring that he will ââ¬Å"give to the edge oââ¬â¢ the sword his wife, babes, and all unfortunate souls that trace him in his line.â⬠(4.1.151-153). This shows how corrupt and evil Macbeth has become; he doesnââ¬â¢t even care about who heââ¬â¢s killing anymore. A wife and kids symbolizes purity and love in a manââ¬â¢s life; the fact that Macbeth doesnââ¬â¢t even consider the moral consequences of destroying a loving family and killing children shows how filled with ambition he has become. Macbeth is so afraid of losing to Macduff that he believes that by killing his family, Macduff will be broken beyond repair and not be able to face Macbeth. Unfortunately, he does not count on a certain someone to heighten Macduffââ¬â¢s hopes to slaying Macbeth by using his sorrow to his advantage. That certain someone is Malcolm, the son of Duncan. After the murder of his father, Malcolmââ¬â¢s ambition to destroy Macbeth becomes so strong that he forgets all moral values and disregards the feelings of others; this ambition represents revenge. Though Malcolm is able to understand the feelings of others, he lets nothing stop him from achieving his goal; this is either due to his inexperience of the world, or because he is too bent on revenge to think about anything else. When Macduff learns that his family is murdered, he begins to despair. Malcolm, not wanting to let anything get in the way of his ambition, tells Macduff to ââ¬Å"dispute it like a man.â⬠(4.3.221). Since Malcolm is a young man; he does not have a wife or kids and disregards Macduffââ¬â¢s pain as a sign of weakness. Note that even if Malcolm had a family and understood Macduffââ¬â¢s pain fully, he would still have been reckless and put revenge above anything else. Malcolmââ¬â¢sà father was a good man who lost his life at the hands of the man h e trusted the most; Malcolm is not going to let Macduffââ¬â¢s personal tragedy get in the way of his goal of destroying Macbeth. When Macduff responds by saying that first he must feel pain like a man, Malcolm responds by telling Macbeth to make his grief ââ¬Å"be this the whetstone of your sword. Let grief convert to anger; blunt not the heart, enrage it.â⬠(4.3.230- 231). While Malcolm is more understanding of the pain Macduff feels, he still convinces him to move on. When he says ââ¬Å"let grief convert to angerâ⬠, he means for Macduff to use his sorrow as his anger so he can move on with his life and destroy the man responsible for his sorrow: Macbeth. Malcolm truly does feel bad about Macduff losing his family, but unlike Macduff, he has no family to worry about and has not experienced every pain and sorrow Macduff has been through. Given this evidence, it is evident how much ambition Malcolm has for destroying Macbeth. Macbeth is not fully to blame for his ambition clouding his judgment since the audience knows that Lady Macbeth has him kill Duncan so she can be Queen; this ambition represents power. While Macbeth is to blame for all he has done to his country, his wife started a chain reaction that sent Macbeth down this dark path. Had Macbeth not told his wife about the prophecies, she would not have become so obsessed with power and she would not have sent her husband to kill Duncan so she could be Queen fasterâ⬠¦and all of Macbethââ¬â¢s victims would be alive and well. Lady Macbeth wants so desperately to gain power, she begs of the immortals to ââ¬Å"unsex me here and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty!â⬠(1.5.41-43). Lady Macbeth is asking the spirits (or godsâ⬠¦Iââ¬â¢m not quite sure; itââ¬â¢s pretty vague) to make her cruel and unforgiving so she can do the terrible deed of killing Duncan. This shows how evil and impatient Lady Macbeth is; ha d she waited for Duncan to promote Macbeth, she could have been Queen without her husband having to kill anyone, Macbeth would still have been a good person, and they would not have had to suffer so much guilt for all they did. Later, after Lady Macbeth drugs the guards, she boasts about the drugs ââ¬Å"that which hath made them drunk Sprouseà hath made me bold; what hath quenched them hath given me fire.â⬠Now Ladyà Macbeth is almost certain that they will not fail; her ambition has clouded her better judgment and ignored the possibility of guilt haunting her and her husband. This ambition, the ambition of power, is by far the most deadly of all ambitions. If you want power so badly and very quickly, you forget about all the consequences that might come from it. In Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s case, her consequence for her actions was the loss of her sanity and restless nights thinking about what she made her husband do, eventually causing her to take her own life. This being said, I think it is safe to say that too much ambition is NOT a promise of power or a sign of greatness. In helping the proof of research, literature reappraisals based on the common architecture inactive design were conducted to heighten the procedure. First of wholly, the orientation on the site is really of import to near a good passive design onto the edifice. From the instance survey at Belum Rainforest Resort, the edifices are orientated in a really systematic agreement. Buildings are placed insistent with a consistent distance to let sufficiency air current flows into the edifice. Apart from this, shaded the out-of-door country with planting and supply the shading on the edifice to take down the land temperature. Besides, seting design can work as funnel chilling zephyrs and filtrate the strong air currents. The edifice layout, for illustration the window design, orientation of the gap and shading, roof discharge, raise the edifice in piles, provided the evaporative chilling system and the stuffs used on a edifice is of import because those design schemes would act upon the airing and accomplish optimal chilling consequence inside the edifice. In decision, a standard passive design is one that uses non-energized design characteristics to do the edifice clime responsive. It is of import to observe that the optimal consequence can non normally be achieved by utilizing merely one scheme because the schemes would work best when an integrated attack is used. 1.0 Overview of Belum Rainforest Resort The Belum Rainforest Resort is located in the thick of tropical Eden, Pulau Banding, Perak. Belum Rainforest is one of Malaysia ââ¬Ës premier ecotourism vacation finishs. It is a nature lovers getaway finish where can being shut to the nature because it was surrounded by a beautiful lake position and jungle. It accomplishes the environment with arresting positions, escapade, relaxation and repose. Belum Rainforest Resort provide an chance for the nature lovers to see the beauty and enigma of the huge jungle, observe the beauty of the vegetations and zoologies and be intoxicated in the nature beauty scenery that can be found seldom in someplace else. Belum Rainforest Resort make up the rural landscape become more interesting and attractive with the common architecture edifice which is the old wing slang resort ( phase 1 ) , Kampung House and the new flying modernism resort ( phase 2 ) . Common architecture attack inactive design in their ornament, pick of stuffs used and their size and signifier to accomplish an optimal chilling consequence in the edifice. In this paper will analyze about how common attack of inactive design scheme to accomplish an optimal chilling consequence in Belum Rainforest Building. What is the demand for Common architecture to near inactive design? How does the orientation of the edifice influence the airing and chilling consequence inside the edifice. How does the common attack inactive design scheme influence the airing to accomplish optimal chilling consequence in the edifice? How make the stuffs help to accomplish the chilling consequence in the edifice? What is the similarity and differences of inactive design in the old wing resort ( phase 1 ) and new flying resort ( phase 2 ) in Belum Rainforest Resort?2.0 Requirement for Vernacular architecture to near inactive design Natural and inactive methods nearing on a edifice is indispensable to do an indoor environment comfy with keeping a low temperature scope in a edifice. An optimal design house is non merely designed base on their residents for assorted practical demands but yet for a comfy indoor environment. In common architecture, it simplest signifier of turn toing human demands is successfully achieve a sustainable edifice with those natural and inactive methods and yet it besides encompassing the regionalism and cultural edifice traditions, supplying the construction more energy efficient. In traditional manner, a common architecture edifice was been built with the natural resources around the site and have to do certain that those stuffs application would giving a good responsive to the clime to do the indoor environment comfy. Besides that, orientation of the edifice is considerable to do the edifice takes the advantages of climatic characteristics such as Sun and chilling zephyrs. Orientation of the edifice is the basic application for a sustainable and inactive design decides the edifice layouts, window design, shadowing and etc. 3.0 Building Orientation influence the airing and chilling consequence inside the edifice Orientation of the edifice, on of the basic inactive design strategic should be see on the site because it is really of import to cut downing the energy ingestion and supplying the edifice environment comfortable. A good orientation of a edifice can assist to cut down the edifice heat addition and provided a good airing and chilling consequence onto the edifice. Because of the Sun rises on the E and sets in the West, all the edifices in Belum Rainforest Resort was orientated their long facade to the North and South way and short facade to the E and west way with a really systematic agreement for illustration every individual of the Kampung House and the stage 2 resort are confronting their entryway and life room on the North way and holding an enclosed facade on the West to forestall the edifice upper limit exposure to the sunshine. There will be a long roof shadowing on the E and west facade of the edifice while the North and the south facade will be decorated with short crucifix sh adowing. Most of the gap would be placed on the North and south way due to the inactive design strategic to forestall the edifice most of the clip was been exposed to the sunshine and besides it can assist to cut down the heat addition of the edifice. In others manner, the edifices are placed insistent with a consistent distance to let sufficiency air current flows into the edifice. To accomplish high natural airing inside the edifice, opening should confront on the strong air current way. For illustration, more gap was been placed on the North East way due to most of the clip at that place have strong natural air currents blows towards. Due to the topography of Belum Rainforest Resort which is an island surrounded by the rain forest, the environing mountain was reclaimed as the higher topography comparison to the lower topography which is the location of Belum Rainforest Resort. Thus, the higher topography helps to barricade the Sun irradiate to the lower topography when the sundown. In regardless of the site contrast, the mountain was acted as a shading to profit the Belum Rainforest. 4.0 Common attack inactive design scheme influence the airing to accomplish optimal chilling consequence in the edifice. Based on this subject, the method of common attack inactive design scheme influence the airing to accomplish optimal chilling consequence in the edifice of Belum Rainforest Resort would be discussed. There are some of the common design scheme could be applied on the edifice to chilling down the edifice such as the evaporative chilling system, gable roof discharge, roof stack airing, huge gap, constructing rise in piles and the overhang for the shading. 4,1 Evaporative chilling system To accomplish a comfy environment, evaporative chilling system is one of the ways to do the environing environment ice chest with the evaporated H2O vapour in the environing air. For illustration, in Belum Rainforest Resort, we can establish there is pool and swimming pool been decorated in the courtyard outside the resort. As the H2O evaporated, about 2500 J of heat energy is consumed. It wet the environing edifice and the H2O pull out the heat from its environing country to do the environing ice chest. Evaporative chilling system is suited to continue outside the edifice alternatively of inside the edifice particularly is our state which is a really hot and humid to avoid the elevating of inside edifice humidness. 4.2 Stack Ventilation and Roof Ventilator Stack airing usually will be go oning in the common architecture house with the map of ventilate the inside and trapped the hot air underneath the roof and so cut down the heat addition inside the edifice. The air motion usually is from the high denseness country of air to a less denseness of air. The ventilator roof articulations or the Malay funnels shaped roof at each gable terminal allowed the hot air rises with perkiness inside the edifice and is infiltrated out therefore the temperature inside the edifice could be lower down and accomplish a chilling consequence inside the edifice. On the other manus, roof blowhole besides could be found in the common architecture house. Due to the Phase 1 Resort in Belum Rainforest Resort is design base on the common architecture manner, the rectangular gable roof blowhole hole was been founded near to the extremum of the roof. The inactive gable roof blowhole map effectual as the natural air can flux in and out to the edifice. 4.3 Opening Huge fenestration is really indispensable for a edifice. It plays an of import function for wind circulation from outside to inside of the edifice. To accomplish a good passive design edifice, the orientation of the gap is really of import. Huge fenestration should be layout on the North and south facade of the edifice to forestall most of the interior surface country of the edifice been exposed to the sunshine. In Belum Rainforest, most of the North and south edifice facade are designed with operable huge fenestration such as the gap of eating house in Phase 1 resort and the Kampung house. Those operable gap helps to cut down the energy ingestion in the edifice and brings the natural airing into the edifice. There is besides some sort of inoperable fenestration from the Phase 1 Resort at Belum Rainforest Resort. The inoperable bamboo fenestration design act as a shading on the edifice facade and in the same clip it is besides an gap with could let the airing flow into the edifice. 4.4 Stilt Building Piles edifice are the edifice which is raised up by stacking over the dirt to the edifice land floor. It is one of the feature of common architecture manner. Chiefly, piles house is used to forestall house been flooded by H2O and forestall the wild animate being such as rat or bite to mount up to the edifice. In add-on, pile edifice besides present good itself in inactive chilling design with the method of air current flows under the edifice land floor. The good airing system enable the hot been exchange with the cold air and therefore it maintain the edifice land floor ice chest all of the clip. By the same item, because the dirt under the edifice all of the clip was been shaded and less exposed to sunlight, it keep the land floor with low temperature and do the edifice environment lupus erythematosus with heat addition. The saloon & A ; kitchen which connected with the Phase 1 Resort and the Kampung House in Belum Rainforest Resort was been designed with pile. Those edifice are full fill the demand of common architecture inactive design manner non merely with the application of aesthetic traditional design but besides with their inactive design strategic for illustration lower down the temperature of the land floor edifice to accomplish an optimal chilling consequence into the edifice. 4.5 Overhang Roof Overhang roof is the most simple and most obvious engineerings for salvaging energy to maintaining the edifice environing cool in the summer. Overhang Roof is portion of roof that extends beyond the walls. It functions as a roof shadowing to protect the facade of the edifice been maximal expose to the solar radiation. Larger overhang roof will be occurred in the E and west edifice facade while the North and south facade decorated with smaller overhang due to the place of the Sun rise and Sun set. 4.6 Shadowing by tree and Vegetation Planting a batch of trees on our environing country is the most good because seting can do our environment beauty and nicer, provided shadowing to our environment which can cut down the sum of sunlight perforating into our edifice, better the environing air quality which can assist to filtrate the harmful air and supply O to do our environing fresh. In Belum Rainforest, trees was been planted in the surrounding of the edifice. The plantation make the environing looks really aesthetic and full of poetic feeling when walking through under the trees. Most significantly, those plantation plays an of import function to protect the edifice been extremely exposed to the sunshine. It acts as a shading of the edifice to take down the temperature of the edifice and the land temperature and besides can be used to filtrate the chilling zephyr and strong air currents.Sustainable stuffs helps to accomplish the chilling consequence in the edificeChoice of environmental friendly building stuffs is o ne of the indispensable design schemes in order to construct a sustainable edifice, add-on to accomplish a standard chilling consequence in a edifice. Green edifice stuffs have lightened the footmark of any building undertaking as they have lower energy ingestion comparison to others non-sustainable stuffs. Green edifice stuffs include bamboo, wood, stones or rocks and sand which can be found of course on Earth, and besides the usage of recycled stuffs, for case, bottles, bricks, steel and the similar. These green and harmless edifice stuffs are non-toxic, reclaimable, and able to renew and hold a extremely lasting. Bamboos, wood, which are both the bing stuffs on the Belum Rainforest Resort are been used as a wall, shadowing or barrier. The ground why bamboo and wood been chosen to utilize for the edifice stuff because the energy embedded in their transit can be minimize and extracted and manufactured locally the edifice stuffs to the edifice site. In Belum Rainforest Resort, bamboo is been used as a wall, barrier and shading. The agreement of the bamboo as a barrier or shadowing giving a high efficiency allowed the outside airing swimmingly flow into the edifice and by the same clip the sunshine can somewhat perforating into the edifice. for illustration, in the old wing resort, every individual window from the resort is been shaded with row of bamboo. It brings the advantages to the edifice which the energy ingestion on the edifice could be reduced. In add-on, bamboo is one of the edifice stuffs which is low heat absorbent. To do the edifice more sustainable and experiencing comfy with a low temperature, all the ceiling of the edifice are been decorated with bamboo. The ornament of bamboo as a edifice stuffs is sustainable, high efficiency and besides really aesthetics. Furthermore, wood besides act as one of the sustainable edifice stuffs on the site. Using wood as edifice stuffs can easy cut down the heat addition inside the edifice because of the thinnest of light colour of the stuffs. For case, the Kampung House in Belum Rainforest Resort have a really high thermic efficiency because the edifice was built with wood wall, wood flooring and roof. Therefore, this sustainable stuffs make a really high chilling consequence in the edifice. What is the similarity and differences of inactive design in the old wing resort ( phase 1 ) and new flying resort ( phase 2 ) in Belum Rainforest Resort? The old wing resort which is phase 1 in Belum Rainforest Resort is design base on common architecture manner while the new wing resort which is Phase 2 is more modernism architecture manner. In comparative both resort which is phase 1 and phase 2, the inactive design strategic of stage 1 edifice would be more efficiency so the stage 2 edifice. First of wholly, the differences of both stage is the edifice stuffs. The envelope edifice in stage 1 most of all is built with wood and bamboo while the envelope edifice in stage 2 is all built with concrete and rage Earth. Old flying resort do good execute in inactive design comparison to the new wing resort base on the differences of their edifice gap. In the old edifice, there is more opening. There are row of bamboo act as a window shading in every individual resort room. The ornament make the facade looks aesthetic and besides lower down the energy ingestion of the edifice because of the window shadowing which can let a good airing flow i nto the edifice and somewhat incursion of sunshine into the edifice. For the new wing, there is less outside airing can be flow inside the edifice because of the enclosed concrete wall and less fenestration. Other than that, the temperature of old wing edifice would be more ice chest than the new wing edifice. The ground is the old wing edifice was surrounded with a batch of flora plantation comparison to the new wing resort which is missing of flora on the surrounding. As a decision, Belum Rainforest Resort has to the full adopted common attack as a inactive design scheme to accomplish ideal chilling effects for the comfort of the residents in the edifice. Natural chilling attack gives advantages to human and besides our environing environment. Orientation of edifice, flora as shadowing device, uses of natural edifice stuffs, more gaps confronting north and south way, elevate the edifice, circulation of air flow and the blending of edifice with topography were taken into considerations when the designer is planing and building the Belum Rainforest Resort. The installing of these inactive chilling devices in Belum Rainforest Resort are non merely helps to continue the site to the minimal detrimental degree, it besides helps to better our environing air quality as deforestation is non needed, trees absorbs C dioxide and release O to assist to clean the air. These inactive chilling methods besides helps to salvage more energy as they have replaced those mechanical chilling devices which consume big sum of energy. Therefore, lesser emanation of nursery gasses. Greenhouse effects can be prevented as no harmful gasses are being released, earth surface temperature can be maintained, and human wellness will be improved. Last but non least, inactive chilling attacks are required for every designers when planning, planing and building a edifice in order to make a cleaner and uncontaminated ambiance for our hereafter. One drizzling day, Aling Saling bought half a kilo of rice. It was put in a brown paper bag which the 40-year-old housewife held at the bottom, all 10 à ¬Ã ¬Ã ¬Ã ¬Ã ¬Ã ¬-fingers at full stretch. But one side of the bag ruptured, too weak to hold even its meagre content. Aling Saling coddled her torn paper bag like a baby to keep what was left of her precious rice from spilling onto the wet pavement. She was torn: should she kneel and pick up her rice one grain at a time or take refuge from the rain and protect what was left? She walked on, her shoulders hunched over her bag. The Bourgeoisie consisted of the factory owners, wealthy bankers and the rest of upper class and their prestigious employment positions. The upper class glorified a life full of glamor and materialism. In contrast, the lower class or the working class came to be the proletariats. The working class appreciated hard work and strived to improve their circumstances; however, the Bourgeoisie strived to ensure the rise of a middle class did not occur in order to retain their reign in France. Over time, the gap between the upper and lower class grew and attitudes of jealousy and resentment among the lower class showed and these attitudes were seething among other proletariats in excess. As with any shift in culture, the authors, and artists of the time capture the change and attach their perception on influences the time period. In the nineteenth century France, the authors, and artists moved to realism, which reflects more truthful settings and everyday life and pulls away from idealism. A great example of a work of realism in this time period comes from Gustave Flaubertââ¬â¢s work Madame Bovary. Madame Bovary follows the life of Emma and Charles Bovary and highlights the lows and highs of pinning for a Bourgeoisie life in a way where the reader feels this story could be about them. We will write a custom essay sample on Teacher or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page According to the scores from the 21st Century Manager domain, it determined that the score of 8. 5 is a good starting point as I consider where and how to further pursue the development of your management skills and competencies. My success will rest on (1) an initial awareness of the importance of these basic management foundations and (2) a willingness to trive continually to strengthen them throughout the work career. In reviewing Transformational and Transactional Leadership characteristics, the score 24 and 26, respectively, describes a leader/manager that is able to inspire its members to ââ¬Å"buy-inâ⬠to the vision and mission of the organizational. Even though both leadership characteristics are needed and must be used in most environments, the Transactional leadership prototype appears to be the one identified to be strongest style of the two identified in my assessment. Throughout my own career choices, I believe that Iââ¬â¢ve learned to employ this style because as a public education teacher we have always had a teacherââ¬â¢s union to ensure that we receive ââ¬Å"exchangesâ⬠for our commitment to the District. Hollander (1978) states that transactional leadership is formulated on the expectation that there is an ââ¬Å"exchangeâ⬠between the whoever is in charge and those that work for that individual, meaning that those who work for the person in charge receive some form of compensation for completing required tasks. It is my desire to embrace the ability to use a Transformational style to compel individuals to go beyond the basic level of their responsibilities. (Howell amp; Frost, 1989). In my current position, I have found that employees are staying with our organization ââ¬Å"not just because they are being paid for their work but because they have the need to supply a need to its clientele and also to feel like they are making a difference. The assessment score of 7 was obtained in the area of Intuitive Abilities. According to the interpretation summary given, it appears as if I continue to utilize ââ¬Å"traditional analytical techniquesâ⬠to make decisions (Agor, 1989). In his book titled ââ¬Å"Intuition in Organization,â⬠Agor (1989), states that in order to be successful in the future one must began to prepare themselves to use more intuitive skills in decision making. The scoring in this area does not surprise me coming from a classroom environment to a leadership position now where I am forced to make decisions quickly while keeping in mind how it effects the whole organization. It future goes to explain some of the struggles that I have with managing larger and older groups of individuals. The skills exist within but I must place closer attention on making sure that I work to develop those skills. According to Veiga amp; Yanouzas,à (1979), the focus on Organizational Design Preferences should be to assist in determining how decisions are made about grouping people and how to place them in the best environment so that individuals are successful. In the area of Organizational Design Preference, my score was a 71 which meant that I was more comfortable with a ââ¬Å"mechanistic designâ⬠. References Agor, W. (1989c). Scene 3 in Debs flat is a good scene because it shows how careless men are, when Tony shows up with a condom machine badly wrapped, this also supports the stereotypical idea of men being obsessed with sex. Debs flat is stereotypically feminine in that it is tidy, clean, bright, homely and tasteful unlike Gary and Tonis flat which is dirty and overloaded with beer cans. When Debby tells Tony about her interest in astrology Tony then gives her a stereotypical male view of it guys dont believe in all that bollocks, unless they want to get off with a girl who really thinks (its true). Tony then makes a joke with a sexual overtone, you show me yours, Ill show you mine, again this stereotypical idea that men only think about sex. Gary makes a list of what to look for in a pub, the list includes taking a good look at the outside step (when they are drunk), and local take-ways (stereotypical lad, them getting drunk and getting the munchies). Over the scene Gary and Tony start dancing drunkenly in the street, this is a very stereotypical. In scene 5 we see Garys flat which has been turned in a pub with the old pubs filthy toilets and the optics. They then start having a conversation about girly words like: loo, doobry, oops, potty, flip flop, being different from guy words such as carburettor, penalty shoot-out. The girly words have a more soft and connotations of home, where as the guy words are linked to stereotypical male obsessions like cars and football. When Dorothy comes in and Gary tries to explain the importance of pubs to men by comparing a pub to cathedral, suggesting that drinking is their religion. Gary then enacts all of his bad habits mentioned earlier. When Gary goes to the pub he lives to-do notes for Dorothy, and she from furry goes to the pub and does a role reversal and acts like a stereotypical lad does. Now what Dorothy does is, in effect, to expose the dominant ideology that says its socially acceptable for men to behave like this, but totally taboo for woman to do the same. The humour in this scene comes through the surprise of the role reversal/breaking of stereotypes showing us what we do not expect to see. The second comedy I am going to look at is AbFab, now the humour comes form the characters breaking the stereotypical representations of woman, unlike MBB where the humour comes form the exaggerated stereotypes. AbFab is an almost entirely female sitcom, there are hardly any men in the programme, and those that appear are usually either gay or unimportant (seen as sex objects, as woman would be seen in MBB and earlier sitcoms. The humour in this sitcom comes from Patsy and Edina acting in this extreme, and in social terms unacceptable behaviour.à The episode of AbFab that Ive studied is the first ever episode made of AbFab. In scene 1 and throughout the episode we see that Edina breaks the stereotype of being a good mother and there is a theme of role reversal in which Edina is, is a teenager and Saffy is the responsible mother figure. The scene opens with Edinas room and shes in bed as she had a hangover from the previous night. This is where we see that she had none of the qualities of a mother: as she is messy, get drunk and smokes to excess (we see bottles, ash trays and cigarette buds all over the room), she is irresponsible (as she cant be asked to get up to go to work), she is lazy and she is very loud. The role reversal is seen when Saffy comes in and starts shouting at Edina to get up and go to work (as if a parent would do to their child), Edina reacts by hiding the drink bottle under her duvet so that Saffy doesnt see it (again as a teenager would hide drinks or fags). The comedy comes from Edina breaking the stereotypical mother image. In the second scene we see Edinas kitchen and again that is also covered with drink bottles everywhere. We see the Edina is not at all domestic because she confuses the washing machine with a cupboard, this reveals that she is not a stereotypical domestic housewife and the humour comes from that.à Saffy is presented as a stereotypical mother should be: caring, responsible, practical, concerned and trying to tell Edina the difference between right and wrong (as a mother should instead its the daughter). Edina acts in a very unfeminine manner, as she is loud, vulgar, aggressive and childish (like a stereotypical teenager would be perceived as). In scene 3 we meet Patsy for the first time, now as soon as she enters the room we can tell that Saffy doesnt like her (like when parents meet daughters boyfriends and think their not good enough). Patsy arrives in a smart suit (this reflects the dominance over Edina and as if she is the man in the partnership). She has a sixties beehive hairdo, this is a throwback to the time that Patsy and Edina are stuck in. now Edina sees her relationship with Patsy more important that the motherly relationship with Saffy ( un stereotypical, as mothers should put their kids before everything else), similar to the relationship in MBB, where they see mates more important than girlfriends. In scene 4 we see Edina and Patsy doing things to excess like drinking, smoking (these are unfeminine vices), later we see them taking drugs like its a everyday, normal thing. Edina seems to have few maternal instinct and Patsy none, Patsy asks whats the point of having kids when all they do is ruin your body, and not come with you to fashion shows, Patsy only sees the disadvantages. Patsy is independent and in control other own sexuality without any maternal hang- ups at all (like a stereotypical man, who has one night stands all the time and doesnt care). Patsy breaks the stereotypical traditional feminine stereotypes as her life seems to revolve around; drinking, smoking, bitching, drugs, and drugs, those things you would expect only a man to do, this breaks all feminine stereotypes, and thats why its seen as funny to the audience as they would never expect a woman to do that. In scene 5 we meet Bubble, she is perceived as and extreme dumb-blonde stereotypes, her name presumably refers to the fact that she is an air-head, but also she is reversing the stereotype of the efficient female assistant. In this scene Edina is very much her own boss (as you would expect a stereotypical man to be), also you see how AbFab is a world of woman, as there are no men in it or the fact that no men are mentioned. We also see how ruthless, insincere, heartless and totally lacking maternal feelings Edina is (you wouldnt expect to see woman like that, it breaks away from the stereotypical representation of woman) when she organises the fashion show. Mark Twain, who was the author of the essay, suggests that everyone is a liar, and that no one can go through life without lying even if they claim that they are completely honest. People lie everyday, every hour even without realizing that they are lying. The world would be a completely different place if people never lied, this wouldnââ¬â¢t necessarily be for the better however. Lying isnââ¬â¢t always bad as most people perceive it to be. Lying is used a lot when trying to avoid hurting someoneââ¬â¢s feelings and to avoid some sort of conflict such as fighting or arguing. Twain believes lying is good, when it is courteous and used to make everyone happy and not just yourself. The author makes a good valid point when he mentions that a lie to better everyone is better than a truth that hurts everyone, which I fully support. Twain wants everyone to practice lying in a thoughtful and unselfish manner because it will make the world a nicer place. Before, reading this essay I had always thought of lying as being a bad thing even though I do it sometimes. After reading this, I am fully convinced that lying can be good. I never realized before reading this that people lie so much, even more then they would ever think because they sometimes donââ¬â¢t notice it. I am also starting to notice more how much me and the people around me lie all the time even just about the smallest things that donââ¬â¢t even seem to matter that much. I fully support everything that has been said in this essay. According to tradition in China, Korea, and Japan, a qilin would appear to signal the birth or death of a particularly benevolent ruler or sage scholar. Because of its association with good luck, and its peaceful, vegetarian nature, the qilin is sometimes called the Chinese unicorn in the western world, but it does not particularly resemble a horned horse. In fact, the qilin has been depicted in a number of different ways over the centuries. Some descriptions state that it has a single horn in the middle of its forehead- hence the unicorn comparison. However, it may also have the head of a dragon, the body of a tiger or a deer, and an oxs tail. The qilin is sometimes covered with scales like a fish; at other times, it has flames all over its body. In some tales, it can also spout flames from its mouth to incinerate evil people. The qilin is generally a peaceful creature, however. In fact, when it walks it steps so lightly that it doesnt even bend down the grass. It can also walk across the waters surface. History of the Qilinà The qilin first appeared in the historical record with the Zuo Zhuan, or Chronicle of Zuo, which describes events in China from 722 to 468 BCE. According to these records, the first Chinese writing system was transcribed around 3000 BCE from the markings on a qilins back. A qilin is supposed to have heralded the birth of Confucius, c. 552 BCE. The founder of Koreas Goguryeo Kingdom, King Dongmyeong (r. 37-19 BCE), rode a qilin like a horse, according to legend. Much later, during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), we have solid historical evidence of at least two qilin showing up in China in 1413. Actually, they were giraffes from the coast of Somalia; the great admiral Zheng He brought them back to Beijing after his fourth voyage (1413-14). The giraffes were immediately proclaimed to be qilin. The Yongle Emperor was naturally extremely pleased to have the symbol of wise leadership show up during his reign, courtesy of the Treasure Fleet. Although traditional depictions of the qilin had a much shorter neck than any giraffes, the association between the two animals remains strong to this day. In both Korea and Japan, the term for giraffe is kirin, or qilin. Across East Asia, the qilin is one of the four noble animals, along with the dragon, the phoenix, and the tortoise. Individual qilin are said to live for 2000 years and can bring babies to deserving parents much in the manner of storks in Europe. However, the beginning of the 20th century saw growing interest in the field of child development. This enormous interest led to many theories proposed by researchers. It is important to understand these theories to understand child development properly. The child development theories can be classified into psychoanalytic, cognitive, behavioural and social child development theories. The main proponents of psychoanalytic theories are Sigmund Freud and Erik Erikson. Freud described child development as a series of psychosexual stages (Carver, & Scheir, 2000). The first stage is also known as oral stage. In this stage, the primary source of interaction to the infant is through mouth. Thus sucking and rooting reflexes are important and the infant derives pleasure from activities involving oral stimulation lik e tasting and sucking. Even trust and comfort to the infant is derived from oral stimulation. The primary conflict in this stage is weaning. Fixation in this stage leads to problems with eating and drinking and indulging in smoking and nail biting. The second stage is the anal stage. Gratification in this stage is gained by bladder and bowel movements. The major conflict in this stage is toilet training and how this conflict affects the child is dependent on the way parents approach toilet training. Training using rewards and praises leads to positive experiences and serves as a basis for the child to become productive, creative and competent adults. Parents who take a lenient approach to toilet training can lead to anal-expulsive personality wherein the individuals are destructive, messy and wasteful. On the other hand, strict toilet training leads to rigid, stringent, orderly and obsessive personality as the child grows into an adult. The ability to communicate your feelings to another person during complicated times reveals the true strength in a relationship. Hemingway tells his story through conversations between the two main characters, the American and the girl, named Jig. The characters face the harsh reality of an unexpected pregnancy and conflict is created through their dialogue. Their obstacle is complicated by their inability to deliver their differing opinions to each other. The coupleââ¬â¢s failure to communicate their opinions straightforward turns the conversation into a tactic of manipulation. On the surface, it seems the American is the one doing the manipulation and trying to persuade the girl to have the abortion, but when Jigââ¬â¢s dialogue is looked closer, itââ¬â¢s clear that she participates in attempting to control the conversation, as well. Regardless of who is more successful, their relationship is damaged forever. To begin, the man does not want to be forced to deal with the complications of starting a family and giving up his lifestyle of travelling. He wants the girl to have an abortion, but he wants her to feel like the decision she makes is that of her own. The truth is he believes and knows his words will play a huge influence on her decision. After a few drinks, the man brings up the sensitive issue to the girl by choosing his words carefully: ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s really an awfully simple operationâ⬠(Hemingway 133). The man tries pushing the issue further by inserting his own judgment and assuring her that ââ¬Å"they just let the air in and then itââ¬â¢s all perfectly natural (133). His manipulation can be seen clearly when he suggests ââ¬Å"[The babyââ¬â¢s] the only thing that bothers usâ⬠(133). It is clear that their relationship has not been the same since hearing news about the baby. I think she begins to realize that she is left with the choice between having the baby or being with him, which could be depicted when she ââ¬Å"put her hand out and took hold of two of the strings beads, ââ¬Å"referring to only two people being able to be together: her and the baby or her and the man. The man is also planting the idea into the girls mind that he wants her to have a say in the matter and to soften its impact. Youââ¬â¢ve got to realizeâ⬠¦ that I donââ¬â¢t want you to do it if you donââ¬â¢t want to. Iââ¬â¢m perfectly willing to go through with it if it means anything to you (134). Yet, when asked if the baby means anything to him, the man replies, ââ¬Å"I donââ¬â¢t want anyone elseâ⬠. In this line the American is referring to the baby in the girls womb and is saying that he wants only her. While its implications are insensitive, the man believes he is appealing to the girls desire for a man devoted to her. Instead of telling Jig that he does not want a baby to complicate their lives, the man tries to make it seem like an abortion is the best thing for the couple through his careful manipulation. The manââ¬â¢s manipulation is very noticeable, but he is not the only one who can play that game. On the surface, the girl appears helpless and dependent, but if viewed from a different perspective she could be seen as manipulative. Hemingway names her ââ¬Å"the girlâ⬠to portray her as somebody who is naive and immature. She appears to be dependent on the man by asking him questions such as, ââ¬Å"What should we drink?â⬠(132) or ââ¬Å"What does it say?â⬠(132). However, she is much smarter than she may seem and communicates her feelings through indirect ways without being offensive to the older man. During their conversation about the drinks tasting like licorice, the girl comments, ââ¬Å"Everything tastes of licorice. Especially all the things youââ¬â¢ve waited so long for, like absintheâ⬠(132). She is trying to show her frustration towards the man in a subtle way. Her frustration is built on the fact that, despite always wishing for a baby, she might not have that chance anymore if she decides to have the abortion. The girl also makes it aware that her frustration runs deeper into their relationship. Upon trying a new drink, Jig questions their life, ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s all we do, isnââ¬â¢t it ââ¬â look at things and try new drinks?â⬠She uses ââ¬Å"allâ⬠in a desperate attempt to show the man that she is bored of her life and their relationship, which Bauer suggests ââ¬Å"does not seem to be moving into any kind of commitmentâ⬠(Bauer), that she deeply wants. As the man suggests that everything will be better after the abortion, The girl reacts, ââ¬Å"And you think then that weââ¬â¢ll be alright and be happyâ⬠(133). Without the man even realizing, the girl, to me, has gone from uncertainty to certainty because she did not have to ask the question, already knowing that, as Bauer suggests, ââ¬Å"Whatever they do about the baby, they will not go back to where they wereâ⬠(Bauer). The girl seems to be in control of the conversation and in response to the manââ¬â¢s claim ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢ve known lots of people that have done itâ⬠(133), she offers sarcasm, ââ¬Å"And afterwards they were all so happy.â⬠The girl realizes that the man is clueless and will never understand. She realizes that she does not have a real decision in her abortion, feeling that the man has already made the decision for her. To compensate for her lack of autonomy, she wants to make the man feel guilty for making her have the abortion, so she tells him, ââ¬Å"then Iââ¬â¢ll do it. Because I donââ¬â¢t care about meâ⬠(134). Jill grows more explicit to her refusal, as she repeats several times ââ¬Å"No we canââ¬â¢tâ⬠(134), ironically refuting his agreement of her own sarcastic statement, ââ¬Å"We can have everythingâ⬠(134). The man fails to understand her point of view and when Jill points out that ââ¬Å"once they take it away, you never get it backâ⬠(134), the man thinks she is talking about their world of travelling, proving his ignorance and selfish desire to hang on to that. Yet if the girl carries the baby to term, the steady sex life that the American has enjoyed will come to an end: Not only will he have to forego sex during her pregnancy, but he will also have to fight for time to have sex with the girl once the babofy is born. Regardless of how seriously the American would take his responsibilities as a father, simply having the baby living with the girl at home would remind the American that he can no longer enjoy the fairly carefree lifestyle that he and the girl led prior to the babys birth. In a sense, he would be entering adult life a second time. Another aspect of youth that the American relives is traveling. In looking at the bags with labels from all the hotels where they had spent nights (Hemingway 76), he is not only thinking of their lovemaking but also of the different places they have been to. Not only is the American sleeping with a young woman but he is also taking her to countless different cities. The man and the girl are vagrants with money, seeing the world as if there were nothing else for them to do. This vagrancy also serves the purpose of masking the fact that the American is not moving quickly from one woman to anotherââ¬âindeed, that he cannot do so. Instead of moving between partners, he is moving between cities and countries. Were the girl to give birth to the baby, though, this traveling would likely be forced to stopââ¬âand even if the couple could still go to different places, they would either have to take the baby with them or find someone to leave it with. In observing the girls willingness to carry their baby to term, he sees that she is ready to grow up, to take on responsibility, to settle down. Moreover, the debate has evaluated how society depletes these natural resources at a faster rate than the environment can replenish. It also assesses how society can mitigate these environmental issues in order to preserve our natural resources for the prosperity of future generations. Research suggests that the natural resources we currently use, such as coal and petroleum, could be fully depleted within the next 25 and 100 years respectively (Byrd, 2012). Given that society has a tendency to over-consume natural resources, many economists have suggested that the use of alternative energy could alleviate the effects of overconsumption and the environment's ability to replenish. Therefore, this study evaluates the potential of solar energy (SE) on society and the environment by evaluating a cost-benefit analysis between solar energy technology (SET) and conve ntional energy resources. Electricity and The Call for Solar Technology: Research on conventional energy resources has shown that the demand of electricity has drastically increased in recent decades, and will continue to increase in the future (Zweibel, 2010). Moreover, by evaluating business as usual models, where the annual growth rate of demand for electricity ranges from 2% and 3.2%, research has suggested that annual world demand for electricity will soar from around 20 trillion kWh (kilowatts) in 2010 to 60 trillion kWh in 2050 and 200 trillion kWh by 2100. Additionally, the average growth rate of renewable resources has only increased about 1.6% per annum, in comparison to the 4% annual growth rate of conventional energy resources. (Lloyd & F... ....
